Contribution to Townsville Community
We support via sponsoring and donation a number of charities in the Townsville area. At Benchmark, we believe it is important to make a contribution to the community where we do business. By supporting, sponsoring and donating to our community organisations we feel that we are fulfilling our responsibility in this area.
The Cure Starts Now
One of our special causes is "The Cure Starts Now", a foundation initiated by Ren Pederson, a Townsville resident who lost his daughter to brainstem glioma, a type of brain cancer both horrific and, currently, incurable. Ren fund raises and coordinates fund raising in a project to pursue research for a cure to this disease. This Townsville initiative has attracted a lot of interest and support Australia wide. By focussing innovative technology and research on this type of cancer, there is no doubt that there will be spinoffs in the work to treat and possibly cure a wide range of childhood and adult cancers.
The Cootharinga Organisation
Cootharinga North Queensland, formerly the North Queensland Society for Crippled Children provides quality services to over 650 children and adults across North Queensland with disabilities. Our services include Community Living, Respite, Individual and Family Support; Rehabilitation Technology Service, and Allied Health Services for Children and Adults.
